AJ Dillon '17 - Lawrence Academy

Lawrence Academy junior running back AJ Dillon ’17 is our 2015 Mass Prep Stars Prep/Private school football player of the year. The 2015 NEPSAC and ISL Co-MVP had another monster season in Groton, as he amassed 1,886 yards and 26 touchdowns, averaging over 10 yards per carry.

Dillon helped lead LA to their second consecutive ISL title and NEPAC Bowl victory.

“The atmosphere with our team is unlike anything I have been a part of.,” Dillon told Mass Prep Stars. “We have outstanding leadership from our captains and our coaches and we have a great community of teachers, parents and students who come out and support us week after week.”

The Connecticut native has been an impact player since setting foot on campus three seasons ago. Starting at tailback as a freshman, Dillon has been a major part of  Head Coach Paul Zukauskas' rejuvenated LA program.

“My freshman year was scary at first leaving home in Connecticut, but I soon became at home at Lawrence, Academy,” Dillon said.  “My freshman football season was cut short due to a foot injury and I only played 4 games and missed all of  the basketball season as well. Last Year was a fantastic way to bounce back. I saw all of the effort that I put in during the offseason show up and the team had a great year. We ended up going (8-1) and earning a share of the ISL championship, along with winning the NEPSAC Hugh Caldera Bowl."

Dillon’s offer list is an impressive and growing one, with the likes of Iowa, Virginia, Boston College, UMass, UConn, Villanova, Temple and Syracuse already offering. Dillon is also hearing from a slew of other FBS schools.

As Dillon stockpiles the post-season accolades and continued college interest, he made sure to give praise to those around him.

“Thanks to my team I have been able to receive these individual awards,” Dillon said. “None of this would have been possible without the community and my family members.”
