BC High LB / RB Steve Timmins '16, scored three first half rushing touchdowns and led the BC High defense on Friday night as they defeated Barnstable, 61-6.
Timmins continued his stellar start to the 2015 season, building on his three touchdown, nine tackle and one interception performance in a week one win over Reading.
The Eagles (2-0) started scoring early and often, and led 19-0 after the first quarter. They surged through the second quarter, led by Timmins, and took a 48-6 lead to the half.
"We fought hard to win tonight," Timmins said. "This was not an easy victory. Barnstable is better than the scoreboard showed."
Timmins, who only saw action in the first half, said the players discussed at halftime the importance of maintaining the big lead.
"It is nice to be able to play against quality public school teams, particularly Division 1 teams." Timmins said. "That prepares us for the Catholic Conference teams, which will determine where we go in the playoffs."
Timmins is focused on his senior year and helping the Eagles try to get back to the top of the decorated Catholic Conference. The senior is also a star student and has received interest from some quality FCS institutions.
"I am looking at a few Ivy and Patriot League Schools for the academics, and possibly football." Timmins said. "Right now, there is so much more to accomplish both in and out of the classroom."
