Laxachusetts keeps churning out top level talent from their elite Massachusetts summer lacrosse program as five players have made their recent college commitments known via their website this week.

Saffery Commits to Gettysburg

Fresh off an impressive performance on the big stage at the Warrior 40 at Harvard Stadium Wellesley midfielder Oliver Saffery '12 (pictured upper left) committed to Gettysburg College to play for legendary Head Coach Hank Janczyk.

Saffery will join fellow state of Massachusetts commitments Jared Fong '12 of Weston High School and Cam Carlysle of Westford Academy in Gettysburg's strong Class of 2016. Both future teammates are members of the Fighting Clams lacrosse program.

"I really loved the tradition of Gettysburg lacrosse," Saffery told New England Prep Stars. "It has been my top choice of schools for as long as I can remember. Additionally, the coaching staff at Gettysburg has been welcoming and helpful since my sophomore year which was great. Having the opportunity to play at my Dad's alma-mater is also really unique and something I could not see myself passing up."

Saffery scored a goal and had a fantastic overall showing with some of the elite players in the country at the warrior 40 in Harvard earlier this month.

"The Warrior 40 it was an amazing experience," said Saffery. "To be able to play with D1 caliber athletes was humbling, knowing that everyone on the field is capable of making plays just made it that much easier to play my game. Overall it was just fun to play with a bunch of guys that i will see on TV in the near future."

All American's Haffey and Blair decide

A pair of Massachusetts South Shore bread All-American attack Kane Haffey, Duxbury '11 and Phillips Exeter '12 and Kevin Blair '12 made their college commitments also known this week.

Haffey made his commitment to Amherst College and told Scott Barboza on the ESPN Boston High School blog yesterday,

"When I was on campus, it was just a great fit," Haffey said. "Academics were always my top priority and it's one of the top Liberal arts colleges in the country. Then, meeting Coach [Jon Thompson] and seeing the facilities, I fell in love with it."

Haffey (pictured below) will do a PG year at Phillip's Exeter next year after an impressive 2010-2011 athletic year that saw him quarterback his team to a Division 2A Super Bowl in football at Foxborough Stadium and in lacrosse where he earned All-American and captained Duxbury's lax squad back to State Championship glory at Harvard Stadium.

Blair (pictured below) has had a big summer for Laxachusetts and had a great 2011 All-American run with Hingham this past season. He almost single handily defeated Concord-Carlisle in the D2 Massachusetts state playoffs as he was nearly unstoppable creating and scoring from X.

Two ISL players also commit to Middlebury

Attack Tim Giarrusso '12 of Thayer Academy and defenseman / long stick midfielder Stephen Brown '12 of St Sebastian's made their committments to NESCAC power Middlebury known. Both players will be welcomed additions to Head Coach Dave Campbell's Middlebury lax team. Middlebury went 13-5 this year and lost to Amherst in the second round of the Division 3 National Tournament.
