EVERETT, Mass. -- Everett Crimson Tide wide receiver Lukas Denis '15 was determined to help the Crimson Tide get back to their winning ways after suffering their first loss of the season last week to loss to No. 1 Xaverian. The Boston College bound Denis would make the game-winning 29-yard touchdown reception, late in the third quarter to help propel Everett to a 21-20 win over the Tewksbury Redmen (1-1) on Friday night.

"We were disappointed after losing (to Xaverian) last week." Denis said. "We had to work hard all week in practice to get ready for Tewksbury because we know that they are one of the best teams in the state. We have to be competitive against teams like them in order to achieve our goals."

Denis and his teammates are looking to get back to the playoffs this season and maintain the strong tradition that is Everett football.

"We are looking to win it all this year," Denis said. "First we have to win the Greater Boston League, but usually our toughest opponents come in our non league games."

At 6-foot-0, 180 pounds, Denis might not be the biggest player on the football field, but he makes up for it with his speed, intelligence and ability to respond well in any game situation.

"I go out there and be a great teammate and help the team win." Denis said.

Denis' intelligence, football skills, leadership and intangibles have earned him the opportunity to move on to play FBS football at the State's top football program and academic stalwart, Boston College. He has verbally committed to the Eagles and BC next year and will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

"I am looking forward to life after high school, but for now, I still have a lot of work to do here." Denis said.
