Craan Commits to Boston College

by Ryan Kilian

CONCORD, Mass. -- Concord-Carlisle (MA) star running back George Craan '12 committed to the home town Boston College Eagles this morning.

"I am very excited," Craan told New England Prep Stars. "Coach (Robichaud) got the news this morning that I qualified and I am a Boston College Eagle."

Craan received his offer last week of a full scholarship. He went through the process of interviewing etc. and was excited to hear the news today.

"I originally planned to go to Choate (CT) next year as a PG after signing day came and went," said Craan. "Boston College came through last week and I committed."

Craan, the two time Dual County League Small Offensive MVP led the Patriots’ to their second ever Super Bowl-winning season. He followed up a stellar 1,900-yard plus junior campaign by carrying the ball 220 times for 1,761 yards and 24 TDs. He led C-C to an impressive 13-0 season and one of the best finishes in school history.

Craan, who has also made improvements in the classroom, has made the honor roll the last two terms at C-C.

The 6-foot-0, 215-pound Craan was the NEPS 2010 player of the year. He will join 2011 NEPS player of the year Tim Joy '12 from Chelmsford (MA) in the BC Eagles freshman class next fall.

Craan will also follow in the foot steps of former BC Eagle and C-C Patriot Willie Hicks who played QB for the Eagles in the post Doug Flutie era.
