Connor Benjamin ‘13 QB - Goffstown (NH)
Goffstown (NH) quarterback Connor Benjamin '13 had a game for the ages in a 54-53 overtime upset win over No. 1 seed Sohegan on Saturday afternoon.
Benjamin scored the final touchdown and added the 2-point conversion on the ground in overtime to advance Goffstown to the Division 3 State Championship game.
In a back and forth contest it was Benjamin who stood tall as the senior completed 15 passes for 306 yards and added another 162 yards on the ground. He passed for four touchdowns, ran for two more and added three key two-point conversion runs in the win.
"Both teams really wanted to win," Benjamin told New England Prep Stars. "Our offense told our head coach to go for the win at the end and he agreed. He called the play and we knew we had to get in the end zone. Everybody on the team wanted to win more than anything else and the team really stepped it up."
The win advances Goffstown to next Saturday's D3 State Championship game against No. 3 seed Portsmouth (8-2).
"The win means so much to everyone on the team," Benjamin said. "We have worked so hard all season for this and now we have to work hard all week at practice and win it all."
