Athlete of the Week 10/17/16 - Jordan McAfee - Everett - Football
by Jan Taylor / Mass Prep Stars
Everett quarterback Jordan McAfee '17, has been a household name for a few years now, and the senior stepped up when needed on Friday night, leading the Crimson Tide to a 49-14 win over Greater Boston League rival Somerville.
"We can't take anyone lightly," McAfee said. "Somerville always comes prepared to play against us."
McAfee completed an impressive 17-of-21 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
The University of Connecticut commit may not have put up gaudy numbers, but it was his efficiency, accuracy and big-plays that helped lead Everett (5-2) over a much-improved and talented Somerville squad.
Everett's schedule continues to get tougher, as we hit mid October. Next up is a home game against neighboring rival, Malden on Friday. Malden defeated Everett in 2015 and won the Greater Boston League last season.
"We definitely want to beat Malden and win the Greater Boston League." McAfee said. "These games definitely prepare us for the team's we will face in the playoffs."
