2017 Football: Lawrence Academy 38, BB&N 17 (w/ PHOTOS)
Lawrence Academy and BB&N opened their 2017 ISL seasons on Saturday, as both teams enter the season with ISL and Bowl aspirations on their mind. Two of the top programs in New England engaged in a physical contest, with Lawrence Academy prevailing 38-17.
Lawrence Academy (1-0) dominated the first half of play and took a 24-2 lead to the half. QB Brady Martin '20 and TE/DE Joey Luchetti '18 led the way for the Spartans early, as Martin hit Justin Barron '20 on a beautiful fade pattern for a TD, while Luchetti was a force on both sides of the ball throughout the contest. Barron also anchored a staunch defensive backfield (video below), with teammate Thomas Greaney '18 also playing well against the pass and run.
Josh Arruda '19 rushed for two touchdowns and played a strong game at MLB for LA, while Spencer Aronson '20 and Tony Muse '21 also scored on a 40-yard Pick-6 and a 90-yard KO return to open the game, respectively.
Ryan Betro '18 had a strong two-way game in the trenches for the Spartans, adding a BIG sack in the second half to thwart the Knight's comeback attempt. Combining with teammate Finn Dirstine '18 and company, LA's line was tough to break on both sides of the ball all afternoon.

Senior OL Kyle Peck '18 and freshman Tyler Martin '22 also stood out for the Knights.
