2018 Mass Prep Stars Boys Public Player of the Year: Alex Rivera ‘18 - Lowell
Lowell High School guard Alex Rivera ’18 is our 2017-2018 Mass Prep Stars Boys Basketball Public School Player of the Year.
Rivera was an offensive machine for Lowell the past two seasons and has starred for the Raiders, along with the Rivals Basketball Club on the AAU circuit
From getting to the rim at ease to pulling up with a defender in his face, every shot Rivera took had a good chance of going in. This senior season Rivera also broke the Lowell High School boys basketball scoring, finishing his storied HS career with 1,587 points.
The UMass Lowell commit also finished first in Lowell boys basketball history for the most career 3-pointers made in a season, most 3-pointers made all-time, and most career games played.
This season Rivera averaged 25 points per game, six assists per game and six rebounds per game while helping lead Lowell to the D1 Quarterfinals and Sectional Semifinals.
We featured Rivera last season, as he broke out and became a local star. Check out that feature here.
