Each week we will highlight 10 of the top performances in New England for the prior week.
Duxbury (MA) QB Matt O’Keefe ’12 was our New England Prep Stars Player of the Week for his four TD performance and stellar offensive game in a big 37-0 shutout victory over Whitman-Hanson on Saturday. O’Keefe was 13-of-18 passing for 235 yards and four touchdown strikes. O'Keefe also carried the ball for 72 yards rushing on the afternoon.
Not to be out done is our Next 9:
Casey Cochran '12 QB, Masuk (CT) (see above left photo) - Tossed three TD passes to set the Connecticut career touchdown passes record (86) in a blowout win over Stratford. Cochran already owns the CT passing yards record which he broke earlier in the year in a win over Oxford.
Alex Eaton ’12 RB, Westford Academy (MA) - Set a school record with 330 yards rushing and five TDs in a 33-8 win over Groton-Dunstable on Friday night.
Aaron Berardino '12 Windsor (CT) - Berardino had another strong effort in a win over Bristol Eastern as the senior had four TDs (3 receiving and 1 rushing).
Arkeel Newsome '12 Ansonia (CT) - Rushed for 401 yards on 22 carries and five TDs (4 rushing and 1 receiving) in 55-19 win over Derby. This is Newsome’s second 400 yard game of the season.
Melquawn Pinkney '12 RB - Springfield Putnam (MA) Carried 28 times for 262 yards and four scores in a 34-6 win over Westfield.
Jonathan Dibiaso '12 QB - Everett (MA) Completed 26-of-38 passes for 227 yards and four TDs in Everett's 35-21 win over QB DJ Crook '12 and Barnstable.
Abner Rodriguez '12 RB - Salem (NH) – Seeing an increased work load on Saturday Rodriguez ran for 90 yards and scored three TDs in a 35-14 win over Nashua North.
Obi Melafonwu '12 RB - Grafton (MA) - Rushed for 320 yards and three TDs in Grafton’s 34-18 win over Leicester.
Ryan Coombs ’12 WR/RET/DB/K – Took two punt returns back for TDs (80 and 70 yards each), had one TD reception, kicked five extra points and was in on a number of tackles in Pinkerton’s 41-6 win over Londonderry.
The story of Fortune Kalala
A few local publications have come out recently with the story of Central Catholic football player Fortune Kalala. It is a fabulous story of a student-athlete who has overcome so much in his young life and has an extremely bright future ahead of him. Check out the links below by these talented journalists.

New England Prep Stars Live Coverage
We were at three games this past week and will be at four games this upcoming weekend. Below are recaps with links and posts from our game coverage as well as a schedule of our upcoming live coverage.
Chelmsford Dominates Lawrence
Chelmsford scored first and never looked back as they defeated Lawrence 42-16 in a dominating Friday night performance. CHS running back Eddie Sheridan ’12 scored three touchdowns and quarterback Colby Emanouil ’12 threw for one and caught one on an exciting end of the half play that totaled 44 yards.
The defense stepped up for Chelmsford on the night as they carried a shutout into the fourth quarter with their starting unit led by linebackers Tim Joy, Joey Christopher, Corey Everleigh and Tony Marino as well as cornerback Connor Brimley, and DL Brett Harrington.

Salem Too Much for Nashua North
Despite playing the majority of the game without star running back Jerickson Fedrick ’12 the Salem Blue Devils won handily over Nashua North 35-14 on the road at Stellos Stadium in Nashua. The Blue Devils received a great game from running back Abner Rodriguez (3 TDs).

Revere Blanks Salem
It was a defensive battle all the way up in Salem on Friday night as Revere came out the victors in a 14-0 shutout win over Salem. Revere received strong efforts from Drew Lauria (2 TDs) and Tom Portrait on the evening. Read more about the game here.
