"10" Top Performances

Each week we highlight 10 of the top performances in New England for the prior week.

Concord-Carlisle running back George Craan ’12 (pictured above) was our New England Prep Stars athlete of the week. Craan ran for 244 yards and three TDs in the Patriots' 35-12 win over Acton-Boxborough. Craan also rushed for a 2-point conversion run in the win over A-B that broke a two and ½ decade long losing streak to the Colonials.

Not to be outdone was our next nine to shine:

A.J. Doyle ‘12 QB - Catholic Memorial (MA) – Had four TD passes in a 33-13 victory over Malden Catholic.

Kenny Pierce ’12 RB -  Beverly (MA)  – Rushed for 256 yards and five TDs in a 47-0 shutout win over Danvers.

Sacoy Malone ‘12 RB - Springfield Central (MA) – Rushed for 301 yards and seven TDs in a 49-7 win over Northampton.

Aaron Berardino ’12 WR - Windsor (CT)-  Took a kickoff back 85 yards for a TD, caught two TD passes of 75 and 85 yards and rushed for 50 yards on two carries in 41-13 win over Middletown.

C.J. Morrison ’12 – RB (CT) - Capital Prep: Scored six TDs and finished with 276 rushing yards in 46-6 win over Abbott Tech.

Anthony Morales ’12 – QB (CT) - Cromwell threw five TD passes in 61-16 victory at Morgan-Clinton.

Jerickson Fedrick ’12 – RB – Salem (NH) - Rushed for 256 yards yards and two TDs on 19 carries in a 49-20 loss to Nashua South.

Henry Bumpus ’12 DE/TE Concord-Carlisle (MA)– Bumpus was everywhere for Concord-Carlisle in their 35-12 win over Acton-Boxborough. The senior opened huge holes for the backs on offense and had multiple tackles for loss, pressures and tipped balls and dominated the line of scrimmage.

Game Coverage

Concord-Carlisle Breaks Streak with Win over A-B

George Craan '12 (3) Tyquan Culbreath '12 (1) and Tim Badgley '13 (1) all scored touchdowns and the Concord-Carlisle Patriots (7-0) defense was up to the task as they defeated Acton-Boxborough (4-3) 35-12. The win was the first over the Colonials in two and 1/2 decades. Henry Bumpus '12 (pictured below) was a menace for the Patriots as the 6-foot-6 senior defensive end had a stellar game on both sides of the ball.

C-C senior defensive back Anthony West '12 had the play of the night as he rocked the A-B quarterback, causing a fumble and breaking all Colonial momentum at the time. Read more about the game on ESPN Boston.

Swampscott Gets Big Second Half in Win

Swampscott led Salem 14-7 at the half but Swampscott came out and dominated the second frame behind senior quarterback Michael Walsh '12 (pictured below). Read more on the game from correspondent Jan Taylor here on New England Prep Stars.

Everett Still the Best

Everett maintained the top spot in New England with Win Over BC High on Saturday. The 35-21 win over BC High was Everett's biggest test of the season but Everett, behind quarterback Jonathan Dibiaso '12 and running back Vondell Langston '12, powered the Crimson Tide to their seventh straight win of the 2011 season.

Dibiaso is now three touchdown passes short of the all-time Massachusetts record and Langston has had his two best games in recent wins over Catholic Conference powers Xaverian and BC High. Both athletes (pictured below Dibiaso left and Langston right) along with wide receivers Kenny Calaj, Jakarrie Washington and Jalen Felix and a stout defense led the way for Everett in the win. Unfortunately in the game there was the loss of star senior running back Preston Cooper '12 for BC High. The senior left the game with a broken ankle after a 7-yard run up the middle. Below is a photo of Cooper breaking a 58-yard run shortly before the injury in the third quarter.
