D'Aundray Burcy '16 - Rb - Reading

Reading Memorial High School running back D'Aundray Burcy '16 had the game of his career on Friday night, as Reading improved to 6-1 with a 48-13 win over Middlesex League rival Arlington (5-2).  The senior rushed for 309 yards and three touchdowns in Friday night's win.

"Going in to the game we really wanted to focus on reclaiming the Middlesex League title," Burcy said. "Now that we have done that, we have our next goal in front of us. As a team I think we are playing our best football right now."

Burcy exploded for 225 yards and two scores in the first half, highlighted by a 75-yard touchdown run, which helped give the Rockets the early lead that they would never look back on.

"I am happy to be able to run behind, what I believe, is the most under rated offensive line in the state," Burcy amended. "Each week our coaches put together an offensive, defensive, and special teams game plan for us and Coach Fiore always sees to it that we are prepared."

As Reading prepares for playoff football, Burcy knows that Reading's challenging schedule, highlighted by an early non-league match-up with BC High, has prepared them well.

"Now it is time to start focusing on playing some very good teams." Burcy said. "Our conference (Middlesex Liberty League) is competitive and being a Division II team it allows us to play some quality teams."

Reading will begin their first round play this Friday night, as the No. 3 seed Rockets host No. 6 Malden Catholic in the MIAA Division 2 North sectional.
