Tyler Blaisdell '14 - Thayer Academy

Thayer Academy graduating senior goalie Tyler Blaisdell '14 is our 2014 Mass Prep Stars Private School Player of the Year for the 2014 season.

Our Mass Prep Stars No. 1 ranked player in the Class of 2014, Blaisdell helped lead the Thayer Academy Tigers to the school's first ISL championship this past season, with a program best 17-1 record.

"It was my last year so I wanted to make it memorable," Blaisdell told Mass Prep Stars. "I think our biggest game of the year was our first game against Belmont Hill. After beating last year's champs (BH) we felt as if we could beat anyone in our league."

The Princeton-bound netminder finished the season with a 72% save percentage, allowing just 5.33 GAA, and making 173 saves. He also netted one goal this season.

Blaisdell was our final regular season Mass Prep Stars player of the week recipient and is also a 2014 Mass Prep Stars Super Team member.

The four-time All-ISL member was named team MVP this season and attributes much of his success to his teammates and friends, who united this season to have a historically memorable season in Braintree.

"Our team was very solid on defense with two of my best friends Jon Barry '14 and Shane Rinkus '14, alongside a very big underclassman in Pat Lawler '16, " Blaisdell said. "These guys were a big help to me because I knew I could trust all of them equally. After our lone loss to Middlesex, our team really came together. We knew we would have to be perfect the rest of the way and it made us push ourselves in practice and in games. To be able to do something that has never been done in Thayer's history, knowing the great players that have come through the school before us, makes us feel very special."

Blaisdell was selected as an Under-Armour All-American this season and will compete in the Under-Armour Games in Baltimore on July 12th.

He was also named to the 2nd annual Boston Lax All-American game as a second year participant.

"This summer I am very excited to play in the Under Amour All-American game as well as continuing to play for Laxachusetts," Blaisdell added.

Blaisdell is also looking forward to be heading down to Princeton, after committing to the Ivy league school early in his high school career.

"Next year at Princeton I am very excited to do everything I can to get on the field, as well as continuing my academics," Blaisdell said. "I know it will be a challenge but I am excited for it."
