Elliott Burr Commits to Syracuse
Posted on August 6th 2012
As first reported on the Top Gun lacrosse website last week former Hamilton-Wenham (MA) star Elliott Burr ’12 has committed to the Syracuse Orangemen for this season as a member of the Class of 2016.
Burr, who starred for H-W this season and was named a Massachusetts D3 all-star by Boston Lax, was supposed to do a postgraduate year at Phillips Andover in 2012-2013 before Syracuse came calling late.
“I first thought that I would be a PG at Phillips Andover, but after Nike Blue Chip camp I got a call from the assistant coach at Syracuse and he said that he had seen me play at Nike Blue Chip and that they were interested in me as a 2012 instead,” Burr told New England Prep Stars.
The talented midfielder scored 61 goals and dished out 40 assists from his midfield position this season for H-W. He was also one one of the most dominating face-off men in New England. He has continued to improve in all facets of his game with the Fighting Clams ’13 squad this summer.

“After the UMass tournament with the Clams I went up to see the campus and was pretty blown away when I saw the school and athletic facilities,” Burr said. “After that I decided that I could not pass up the opportunity to go to Syracuse.”
Burr will join four other current Massachusetts players on the ‘Cuse roster. Mass. juniors Hakeem Lecky (Duxbury), John Fitzgerald (Hingham) and incoming freshmen Jeff Desko (St. John’s Shrewsbury) and Jay McDermott (Duxbury) will all suit up for the Orange this year.
Burr was also a CAL/NEC All-Star in football for the 2011 Generals squad.
